Tanya and her husband Carl were totally unprepared when their second child very nearly arrived at 27 weeks.
Alastair’s involvement with the Trust began in September 2009 when he was approached to be the first CEO for the newly-formed Neonatal Trust (New Zealand)
Michael’s journey began with his wife, Melissa, at Wellington Woman’s Hospital when Melissa was admitted at 20 weeks prior to the birth of their twin sons Max and Blake (who were born at 35 weeks).
Oscar, Carolyn and Tim’s precious boy, arrived at 38 weeks after an emergency c-section. At day two Oscar suffered a hypoglycaemic attack and subsequent complications.
His first contact with the Trust was in 2003 when his wife, Katrina, was admitted to Wellington Woman’s Hospital 24 weeks into her pregnancy. Their boys were delivered at 26 weeks and weighed under a kilo each.
Vaughan is the Clinical Leader of the Wellington Region Hospital NICU and has worked in the neonatal area for many years. He is acknowledged as one of New Zealand’s leading neonatal clinicians.
The neonatal unit was first introduced to Laura when she gave birth to her son 7 weeks prematurely. Having to stay in hospital for a month was a surreal time, in which the neonatal unit proved to be a comforting hand to both Laura, partner Adrian and 2 year old Maya.
